Logistics Coordinator – Poland

We are currently seeking Logistics Coordinator to our operations in Krakow, Poland. A Drop in the Ocean (DiH) runs various projects in Krakow, including English classes, sports activities for children and NFI distribution. To be successful in this role, you need to have previous experience within logistic and due to rapid changes, we`ll need somebody who is flexible. The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for A Drop in the Ocean´s overall logistics at the location, including sourcing and distribution activities.

Start date: As soon as possible!

Applications are considered on a rolling basis. Successful candidates will be called for interviews as soon as possible.

Duration of Contract: 3 months, possibility of extension.

Responsibilities and tasks

  • Overall responsibility for supply chain and warehouse
  • Keeping an overview of needs for supply, and make sure we at all times have what is needed at the location.  
  • Supply the Freeshops with necessary stock from the wearhouse.
  • Call for necessary donations and finding suppliers
  • Receive donations (unpacking, sorting, labeling, packing)
  • Meeting and training of field workers
  • Maintenance of security and cleanliness where our supplies are kept
  • Sorting of clothes, fabric and other items for distribution

Your profile:

  • Experience within logistics such as supply chain management as well as warehouse management
  • Valid international driver’s license is mandatory
  • Experience in or knowledge of donation procurement
  • Good knowledge of database/spreadsheet management and maintenance
  • Service minded, good communication skills and experience with problem solving
  • Fluent in English and/or other context relevant languages (e.g., Polish, Ukrainian, Russian) are an advantage
  • Project management and team leading skills
  • Experience from humanitarian work is preferably

Logistics Coordinator, Nea Kavala, Greece

We are currently seeking a motivated individual for the position of Logistics Coordinator to manage A Drop in the Ocean´s overall logistics at the location of Nea Kavala.

Responsibilities 

  • Management of A Drop in the Ocean´s overall logistics at destination, such as warehouse and distributions of food and non-food items (NFI) to meet DiH needs.
  • Management of DropShop at the destination.

Tasks

  • Supply-chain management for DiH projects at destination in communication with relevant coordinator.
  • Supervision and training of volunteers engaged in area of responsibility (in communication with relevant coordinator).
  • Supplier / Donor relations – ensuring smooth/ good relations.
  • Continuous overview of needs at location (incl. when necessary, needs assessment, SPHERE Standard compliant).
  • Sourcing / procurement / receiving of donations, always appropriate to the needs.
  • Implementation of logistics-work-oriented best-practices, ensuring smooth and efficient work.
  • General warehouse management, ensuring appropriate human resources are directed for objectives to be met.
  • Distribution management, including planning, communicating to camp community, being accountable to the population and ensuring feedback mechanism is upheld.
  • Operation of DropShop when relevant.
  • Coordination of volunteer/ intern work in area of responsibility (in communication with relevant coordinator).
  • Ensuring relevant databases (Teams, BoxTribute) are continuously updated and GDPR compliant.
  • Ensuring M&E data collecting tool for area of responsibility is always up to date.
  • Reporting to line-manager (Site Coordinator).
  • Other tasks may be assigned.

Qualifications 

  • University degree in Business Administration, supply chain management or a related field and/or
  • 6-month Experience and within supply chain management and warehouse management
  • 6-month Experience of donation procurement
  • Understanding of database/spreadsheet management and maintenance
  • Fluent in English, preferable with knowledge of Greek (knowledge of a language such as Farsi/Dari, French, Arabic, Somali would be an asset)
  • Good collaboration and team work abilities
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the refugee/humanitarian context in Greece
  • Service minded and experience with problem solving

The Logistics Coordinator will work full-time in Nea Kavala (Kilkis-Greece).

All Coordinators with A Drop in the Ocean are travelling on their own responsibility, and must be able to contribute for at least 3 months.  The successful candidate will be hired on a Greek contract for six months with the possibility of extension. Greek residency is preferable to be hired on a Greek contract. Non-EU candidates can apply provided they have all the required documents to work in Greece. DiH does not support hired coordinators with Visa applications. Greek country requirements must be handled by the candidate prior to his/her arrival on site.

A valid driver’s license (Greek/European, valid no less than 2 years) is necessary to be considered as a Coordinator. All field workers of the organisation must be above the age of 25 and have to provide with a valid police certificate. Insurance including travel and health is mandatory for all field workers.

ENGLISH TEACHER, GREECE

We are currently seeking a motivated individual for the position of English teacher in Nea Kavala refugee camp or in Athens community center of A Drop in the Ocean.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Teach English language classes per the refugee student population needs in Nea Kavala refugee camp or in Athens community center of A Drop in the Ocean
  • Create and expand Non-Formal Educational language curriculum, targeting and addressing the needs of the students
  • Manage, monitor and evaluate the implementation of project components

Preferred Competence and Qualifications

  • University degree in Education
  • Firm understanding of formal and informal education within challenging, humanitarian settings
  • Demonstrated history in teaching, vocational and life-skills development
  • Passionate advocate for education for all

How to apply

To become a fieldworker you must:

  • Be 23 years old or older
  • Commit for at least 4 weeks (some locations and projects can accept shorter periods of volunteering)
  • Provide us with a criminal record certificate
  • Send us proof of insurance (public or private) and the name and number of insurance provider
  • Provide us with a copy of your passport
  • Send us your CV and the contact details of two references
  • Complete our online training
  • Accept and follow our guidelines
  • Be prepared for long and unpredictable, but also interesting and meaningful days in the field

Important information

  • It is important to us that you have a meaningful stay that corresponds with your expectations. All potential field workers must be interviewed by our operations coordinators. We also require that you provide us with two personal references we can contact. In this way, we ensure that every involved party has a good experience.
  • Our information hub Mobilise will be accessible for all approved candidates. In Mobilise you can find useful information about what to do before your assignment begins, accommodation tips, recommended packing list, and much more.
  • We use our funds where it is mostly needed and require that our field workers cover all costs related to their assignment. A Drop in the Ocean is not responsible for assistance on financial matters, but it is possible to get reimbursement for all field workers. You can apply for reimbursement limited to 250 EUR per month for personal costs such as accommodation, rental car, and transport, with a maximum of five receipts for each month if you commit to 30 hours a week. Reimbursement is only available if you participate for four weeks or longer.
  • If you wish to teach but cannot commit to 30 hours a week, kindly let us know in you application how many hours you can teach for.

If you live outside of Greece, you have to follow your country’s travel advise, and take this into consideration before applying (for Visa issues, the successful candidate should contact in advance the Greek Embassy of their country). A Drop in the Ocean does not support potential candidates in Visa applications.
