By the end of the year, we had also established a presence in the refugee camp Ušivak outside Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In 2019 we strengthened our work for unaccompanied minors, established activities on Samos, and recruited more volunteer field workers with expertise in specific areas. Thanks to increased funds, we were able to make more long-term plans.

New projects and the development of existing projects in and outside of the refugee camps in Greece has been one of the highlights in the field during 2018.

Annual Report 2017

Several projects have opened in the Greek camps in 2017. The needs of the refugees are the number one thing guiding our activities and our work. A Drop in the Ocean has contributed with language classes, sewing skills and social gatherings.

Annual Report 2016

The year 2016 started like last year ended. Several thousand people fleeing from war and with need for safety arrived at the Greek islands. Here, our volunteers were patrolling day and night in the areas which had the most arrivals.

Occasional Papers

Time Witnesses from Greece

A Drop in the Ocean’s voluntary fieldworkers have been in the field to help refugees in Greece every day since September 2015. 6000 voluntary fieldworkers from 60 countries have with their own eyes witnessed how the refugee crisis has been handled. The feedback we receive is unambiguous – this is not a European refugee crisis; this is Europe’s solidarity crisis.
