Dråpen i Havet

First impressions

I think it may often be the case for many of us that, when beginning something new, we tend to focus so much on making a good impression ourselves that our own first impressions of the situation we face take a backseat.

Interview with volunteer, Susan Clark

Since its inception in 2015, Dråpen I Havet has been sustained by the dedicated and tireless support of volunteers from all over the world. While some volunteers have started their journey with DiH as participants in our programmes, others have joined our team to enable us to keep the respective programmes running.

Continuous learning and development: Dråpen i Havet’s roadmap for the future

Growing and maturing as an organisation means that (re)development is bound to take place. However, the way and direction in which that happens is not set in stone and is a process open for discussion, contemplation and (re)definition.

“harnessing the potential of human mobility“

Kara Tepe – A cocktail of emotions

As you walk through the gates, you prepare yourself to be hit by a wave of sadness. You watch your more senior and seasoned team mates closely, observing their every reaction to this new and unfamiliar environment. As you enter further into the belly of the camp, you start noticing things you consider inhumane, unsafe, unfair, and unjust.

Greece: Camp closures, rebuilds and transfers

In Greece, camps are closing, new camps are being built, and refugees and other migrants are being transferred from the islands to the mainland. A Drop in the Ocean is adapting to the new developments to support the needs of people forced to flee.

Language activities in Kara Tepe

A Drop in the Ocean currently has limited access to the temporary site of Kara Tepe but our international field workers have found clever ways to incorporate different language activities for community volunteers in their day-to-day work.
