HR Support Intern

Areas of responsibility

  • Support in the onboarding of international and local volunteers of DiH in the Ministry of Migration registration.

Work Tasks

  • Assist in communication with Volunteer Coordinators in each location for following on requests of administrative documents from international and local volunteers
  • Monitor and follow up requests for administrative documents of international and local volunteers on HR software  
  • Assist in development of procedures and improving pathways for prompt and efficient onboarding with final approval from HR Coordinator
  • Provide help in various tasks among HR department

Competence, skills and qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Service minded and experienced with problem solving
  • Good understanding of full-cycle recruiting
  • Fluent in Greek language, written and oral. Good English skills. 
  • BsC in Human Resources Management or similar field.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and databases will be a plus

Other

  • The HR support intern may also handle other tasks on request from colleagues

Humanitarian Aid Intern

Areas of responsibility

  • Support to Logistics Coordinator in management of A Drop in the Ocean´s overall logistics at destination, such distribution, including planning and sourcing of clothes, shoes and other NFI (non-food-items), Food items, to meet the needs of residents of the camp
  • Supervision of DropShop at the destination if in Nea Kavala refugee camp
  • Supervision of Laundry Station if in Lesvos
  • Intern does not have responsibility neither on other projects nor staff, and is under the direct supervision of his/her line manager, a member of the coordinator’s team

Work tasks

  • Having overview of needs for supply at destination
  • Sourcing / procurement of donations
  • Receive donations for use in DiH distribution-projects at location
  • Return/recycle excess stock
  • When requested conduct needs assessments in coordination with LC related to distribution and services in/outside camp
  • Report daily to Logistic Coordinator
  • Collecting (qualitative and quantitative) data from each project to be able to evaluate relevant projects at the location

Competence and Qualifications

  • University education in relevant field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the refugee/humanitarian context in Greece
  • Fluent in English; Greek and other context relevant languages (i.e. Farsi/Arabic/Pashto/Dari) are an advantage

Other

  • Intern will be place on a volunteer agreement, accordingly to DiH’s agreement policies
  • This role description is an over-arching document. Other work tasks may be required by the Logistics Coordinator
  • The intern commits to be up to date regarding routines applicable to the role
  • Guidelines for coordinators and volunteers are additional to this role description

How to apply

Our interns have a burning desire to support displaced persons. You can become an intern if you are involved in a Bachelor or Master Program, and if your university recognizes one of the following four programs relevant for your internship. You must also be more than 23 years old and comply with our requirements which are listed below.

  • Be 23 years old or older
  • Commit for at least 8 weeks
  • Provide us with a criminal record certificate
  • Send us proof of insurance (public or private) and the name and number of insurance provider
  • Provide us with a copy of your passport
  • Send us your CV and the contact details of two references
  • Complete our online training
  • Accept and follow our guidelines
  • Be prepared for long and unpredictable, but also interesting and meaningful days in the field

Our recruitment and information platform, Mobilise, will be accessible for all approved candidates. In Mobilise you can find useful information about what to do before your assignment begins, accommodation tips, recommended packing list, and much more.We use our funds where it is mostly needed and require that our field workers cover all costs related to their assignment. A Drop in the Ocean is not responsible for assistance on financial matters, but it is possible to get reimbursement for all interns. You can apply for reimbursement limited to 250 EUR per month for personal costs such as accommodation, rental car, and transport, with a maximum of five receipts for each month. Reimbursement is available if you participate for eight weeks or longer.*

If you live outside of Greece, you have to follow your country’s travel advise, and take this into consideration before applying (for Visa issues, the successful candidate should contact in advance the Greek Embassy of their country). Community Empowerment Mobilization Intern

Areas of responsibility

  • Support to Project Coordinator for the operation of the Community Empowerment Mobilization owned/run by A Drop in the Ocean at the location such as Child Friendly Space, Women Friendly Space, Sports activities…
  • Intern does not have responsibility other projects nor staff, and is under the direct supervision of his/her line manager, a member of the coordinator’s team

Work tasks

  • Consider new activities and present project proposals to PC for new activities/projects on site (must be approved by PC before implementation)
  • Maintenance and overview of all projects operated on site
  • Monitor, and evaluate the implementation of project components under the supervision of the PC
  • Qualitative and quantitative data collection from each project in order to implement, ensure and follow-up on relevant M&E plans
  • Establish and maintain routines for all projects
  • Weekly reporting to PC
  • Any other relevant tasks as requested by PC

Competence and Qualifications

  • University education in relevant field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the refugee/humanitarian context in Greece.

Integration Support Intern

Areas of responsibility

  • Support to Project Coordinator for the operation of the Integration Support projects owned/run by A Drop in the Ocean at the location
  • Intern does not have responsibility neither on other projects nor staff, and is under the direct supervision of his/her line manager, a member of the coordinator’s team

Work tasks

  • Responsible for Projects related to Integrating migrants in the Greek Labour market, such as CV making, job searching, job counselling
  • Consider new activities and present project proposals to PC for new activities/projects on site related to Integration Support
  • Maintenance and overview of all projects operated on site
  • Monitor, and evaluate the implementation of project components
  • Qualitative and quantitative data collection from each project in order to implement, ensure and follow-up on relevant M&E plans
  • Establish and maintain routines for all projects
  • Audit and review of projects on a quarterly basis together with PC
  • Any other relevant tasks as requested by PC

Competence and Qualifications

  • University education in relevant field
