Før du sender inn din søknad, vennligst påse at du oppfyller følgende minimumskrav som er obligatoriske for alle våre koordinatorer i felt:

  • Svært sterke engelskkunnskaper (muntlig og skriftlig)
  • Internasjonalt førerkort (gyldig i Hellas)
  • Minimumsalder 25 år
  • Mulighet til å arbeide i minst 4 måneder, 6 måneder for Site Coordinators
  • Mulighet til å vise frem gyldig politiattest før avreise
  • Minst to referanser fra tidligere arbeid
  • Forsikringsbevis som inkluderer helse og reise
  • Forståelse for og forpliktelse til DiH sine mål, verdier og visjoner

Rekrutterer frivillige feltarbeidere til Lesvos

Dråpen i Havet gjenopptar rekrutteringen av frivillige feltarbeidere til Lesvos. Vi kommer til å jobbe i den nye midlertidige leiren, Kara Tepe, og jobber for tiden med å implementere nye prosjekter der. Derfor ser vi nå etter feltarbeidere som kan bistå vårt arbeid. På bakgrunn av konteksten vi jobber i og hvilke prosjekter vi skal sette i gang, er vi i første omgang ute etter å rekruttere feltarbeidere med relevant bakgrunn og erfaring. Vi ser derfor spesifikt etter personer med relevant utdanning og erfaring fra å jobbe med barn (som f.eks førskolelærer, lærer, barnevernspedagog, sosionom, psykologer, mm.) og som har jobbet med barn i en flyktningleir tidligere. I tillegg, ser vi etter personer som har erfaring med å jobbe med WASH (vann, sanitær og hygiene) og/eller personer som er svært fleksible med tanke på arbeidsoppgaver og kan påta seg arbeidsoppgaver som innebærer snekring, rørleggerarbeid, prosjektering, mm.

Call for coordinators

A Drop in the Ocean will soon have available coordinator assignments within project and volunteer management at our different locations in Greece. Due to the unpredictable environment we are currently operating in, we are looking for applicants able and willing to travel to Greece on rather short notices. Site Coordinator – Lesvos

We are currently seeking a new Site Coordinator for our operations on Lesvos. A Drop in the Ocean (DiH) has a long-established presence on Lesvos and are currently in the process of implementing projects in the new refugee camp. The Site Coordinator is responsible for all DiH activities on site, whilst also serving as our official representative on the island. We are looking for someone with a demonstrated working history within high-paced, volatile, and complex settings.

Start date: ASAP

Application deadline: 1st October 2020

Duration of Assignment: Minimum 6 months consecutively (possibility of extension)

Responsibilities include:

  • DiH’s finances, administration, and activities/projects at the location
  • Management, training, and follow-up of new and current coordinators
  • On-site Crisis Management and preparedness
  • Functioning as DiH´s official representative at site level

Tasks and duties include:

Administration

  • Implementation and follow up of DiH routines (general and location specific)
  • Initiating, presenting, and ensuring implementation (when approved) of new activities/projects
  • In charge of preparedness and security management at the location, including emergency training, incident reporting and risk assessments
  • Overseeing site finances and ensuring compliance with budget
  • Reporting and maintaining overview of donations and fundraising at the location

Managerial

  • Induction of new coordinators
  • 1:1 training, mentoring, supervision, and follow-up of all coordinators
  • Weekly team meetings with coordinators on site
  • Exit talks with leaving volunteers

Reporting

  • Weekly meetings with closest line manager (Operations Coordinator Greece)
  • Weekly written report to HQ Oslo
  • Tracking and reporting of security incidents
  • Evaluation of on-going projects (quarterly basis)
  • Accounting of site finances (monthly basis)

Representation

  • Represent DiH on site level and ensure strong and professional relations with all relevant partners, stakeholders, and colleagues at the location
  • Actively participate in meetings under the direction of UNHCR/military/camp management/other NGOs and others
  • Contribute to knowledge regarding DiH´s work on Lesvos through various channels, i.e social media

Your profile:

  • University education in relevant field
  • Experienced project manager, preferably within the humanitarian field
  • Demonstrated history with Crisis Management and proven ability to work in high-paced and insecure environments
  • Experience from humanitarian organisations, field work (refugee camps) and volunteer management in particular
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and service minded
  • Experience with problem solving
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the refugee/humanitarian context in Greece
  • Greek and other context relevant languages (i.e. Farsi/Arabic/Pashto/Dari) are an advantage

Project/Volunteer Coordinator – Lesvos

We are currently seeking a new Project/Volunteer Coordinator (PC/VC) for our current and up-coming projects on Lesvos. A Drop in the Ocean (DiH) has a long-established presence on Lesvos and are currently in the process of implementing projects in the new refugee camp. The PC/VC is responsible for all volunteer field workers present at the location, as well as the operation of projects owned and run by DiH on the island. We are looking for someone with a demonstrated working history within high-paced, volatile, and complex settings. Experience from WASH related projects is beneficial.

Start date: ASAP

Application deadline: 1st October 2020

Duration of Assignment: Minimum 4 months consecutively (possibility of extension)

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and overview of all projects operated on site
  • Consider new activities and present project proposals for new activities on site
  • Manage, monitor, and evaluate the implementation of project components
  • Collaborate with DiH’s Project Coordinator Greece (PCG) to ensure constant and sustainable development of relevant projects
  • Qualitative and quantitative data collection from each project in order to implement, ensure and follow-up on relevant M&E plans
  • Coordinate work amongst volunteers at the location in line with capacity and requirements
  • Ensure a sufficient number of field workers at the location
  • Ensure the flow of information to new volunteers prior to their arrival (i.e. managing FB groups and similar)
  • Induction, training, mentoring and development of all on-site volunteers
  • Weekly team-meetings with international field workers as well as resident volunteers
  • Recruitment of resident volunteers on site
  • Weekly reporting to Site Coordinator and, when requested, PCG
  • Take part in relevant working group meetings with collaborators and partners

Your profile:

  • University education in relevant field
  • Experience from project management, preferably within the humanitarian field
  • Experience from humanitarian organisations, field work (refugee camps) and volunteer management in particular
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in high-paced and insecure environments, demonstrated history with Crisis Management is an advantage
  • Experience with WASH related projects is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the refugee/humanitarian context in Greece
  • Greek and other context relevant languages (i.e. Farsi/Arabic/Pashto/Dari) are an advantage

Coordinator Mentor/Counsellor

The Coordinator Mentor/Counsellor is responsible for biweekly 1:1 follow up on Coordinators in Greece through Skype. We have at all times approximately 15 Coordinators based in Greece that receive this kind of support from the organisation.

Among the focus areas when being mentor will be Coordinators´ mental and physical health, their well-being, self-care and challenges as field workers. Furthermore time management, prioritization and personal challenges and development are important areas for the follow-up conversations. Background as a psychologist or other healthcare/mentoring roles can be relevant for this volunteer role.

For being considered to this volunteer role, one has to have the following qualifications:

  • Experienced / certified coach
  • Good interpersonal skills and an excellent listener
  • Service minded
  • Experience with problem solving and advising in challenging situations
  • Fluent in English
  • Having been field worker with A Drop in the Ocean is an advantage.

Therapists

We are looking for therapists who have the opportunity to assist from their home as volunteers in the case of debrief conversations with our field workers, either by acute need or after returning from field work. The conversations are held on Skype and it is a prerequisite that you speak English fluently. We believe the following background is relevant for such assignments: police / fire department / paramedic or psychologist / psychiatrist / therapist. It is an advantage with experience from debriefing, crisis situation and meeting with people who are traumatized, burned out or have experienced a very demanding situation.
